Lesson Learned

You gave me some very good memories,
and some of my most frightening too,
you were quite the catch to persue,
but come to figure, I never even knew you.
You made me stronger, with all your carlessness and rage,
too bad it didn't last longer, your foolishness put me in a cage.
But don't worry, I'm not petty - the kitten's name remains Sage.
I just wish we were both ready, because it's time to turn the page.
Please don't twist this end into highschool bull, and lies;
deep inside me my heart becomes dull, and so it cries.
Please don't think this is your fault, blame denies,
we're just too different with all your fame and sighs.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm also filled with shame,
just don't fuck with me, we're not playing games.
You see, I'm a punk, a nerd and often called lame,
so you need to learn, we'll never see things the same.
I really hope you find a new girl to treat you as I would,
know that I'll be with you, if ever I find I could.
But I don't know if that hopeful day would ever come;
I'm just doing what I need to, and that's why we are done.
So don't let all of this all be in total vein.
I know how you're feeling, with so much pain.
It's so late to fix it all now, you've driven me insane.
I do still love you though, so much the same.
Here I am now, with all these cold tears on my face,
I wish I could leave here, to a beautiful, new place.
I don't even know if I've won or lost this race,
but I do know that I need some well earned space.
There's all this pain in my heart now, yet to cease,
I know I've broken our love contract before the lease,
but it wasn't all for nothing, you were often a sweet release,
and I'll always remember you as my Price of Peace.
